Originally named the Civic Auditorium, The Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts was opened in 1962. Three decades later it underwent a major renovation, which divided the old auditorium into the three separate venues it now comprises. It is home to the both the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra and the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra, and regularly hosts some of the biggest musical artists in the world.
