MOTOWN WOW!

Had to contain myself from just standing up throughout the whole show and singing withevery song!! Music was incredible, singers talented...a super bring it back to my home town down memory lane Rock out! Take the whole family. The only thing to make it better would have been an open dance floor!

GREATEST SHOW EVER

I saw this a few years ago in Seattle and I need to see it again! I loved it and want to know when and where will it be next.

WHERE'S THE BASS?

First off let me say the show was great, amazing performers, singing and dancing. The musicians were amazing as well, very talented players all. Unfortunately the bass guitar was sorely lacking in volume and presence. So many of Motown's hits were driven by the bass, the Funk Machine in the talented hands of James Jamerson was a key element in Motown's success. What we could hear from the pit was great, but in the house the sound of the bass was decidedly understated. When we saw the Funk Brothers at Berklee Bob Babbitt was funky and loud, driving the band as the bass player should. I'm not saying the bass should dominate or overshadow, but when it comes to Motown those great songs so incredibly performed are a bit lacking without that punchy, funky, melodic drive so ably provided by James Jamerson. (And yes, I'm a bass player) . It's all about the bass!

MOTOWN

Fabulous. Got tickets from my Casino host In the end cost me a fortune but it was worth every penny. Barry Gordy and Diana Ross were amazing and young Michael of course. Every cast member entertained and I would see it again. I thought Jersey Boys were good but this show was outstanding. Thank you so much for a very enjoyable back to the 60s.

VANCOUVER 2018

We had the best seats in the house, 19 rows back from the stage and in the very middle. QE is a wonderful venue. The first scene looked and sounded like a high school musical. The singers' voices were weak and the dance moves amateur and not in sync. This did not present like a Broadway production. The cast although talented, really had big shoes to fill and unfortunately they fell short. The costumes were obviously in with the times but they too were of inferior quality. The scene sets were of minimal content. Was disappointed that there were not many full songs performed, but only montages of some recognizable hits. The orchestra was great! The story was informative and enlightening. The show was entertaining.

SOUND PROBLEMS OR WAS IT US?

An enthusiastic group of performers tried to carry an immense amount of material and we were pulling for them, thru out the show. The sound had a lot of problems to our ears especially for the higher voices like Michael Jackson and the woman who played Diana Ross in the second half of the show. The player in Ross's role in the first half played her part beautifully and carried a solo without any accompaniment beautifully. We missed her in the second half. There were some high moments where the main players got a chance to shine. We came a long way to see it for a very special occasion. I am happy to see all positive reviews in this site, the show sold itself as billed as a colorful and nostalgic production.
